Green by Design TV: Show Notes for Episode 7_3
Eco Fairs and Festivals!
Air Date: August 2008
Show Summary
CELEBRITY SIGHTINGS – TED DANSON AND ED BEGLEY JR.
So often, celebrities will use their status to promote a cause and we had the great fortune to speak with Ted Danson and Ed Begley Jr at this years PSEG Global Green Expo. They both spoke to large crowds at the event, but Greg was able to get a couple minutes with each of them to thank them for all they do for the environment.  Ted Danson is working with a group called Oceana. They are actively working to protect our oceans and the life within them. Please check out their website for more information at: www.oceana.org.  Ed Begley Jr. has long been a role model for living sustainably and he gave us some words of encouragement when he said we should all focus more on the successes we’ve already had and the solutions that are available instead of focusing too much on the problems.  Check out Ed and his wife Rachelle on their hit show, Living With Ed

INTERVIEW WITH GOVERNOR JON CORZINE
New Jersey’s Governor, Jon Corzine, was on hand to address the thousands of attendees at the event. Connie was able to speak to the governor to thank him for all he is doing to promote clean energy. He recently signed the Global Warming Response Act, which calls for reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020, followed by a further reduction of emissions to 80 percent below 2006 levels by 2050. Learn more.  When asked what his greatest challenge is for NJ and the environment, he responded that getting to our long-term carbon goals will take more than picking the low hanging fruit and that protecting our environment may take some dramatic steps.

GREG AND CONNIE TALK NUCLEAR
We here at GBD TV are not necessarily supporters of Nuclear Energy but we acknowledge that all options should at least be considered. Worldwide demand for energy is ever expanding, consequently nuclear and legitimate clean coal need to remain on the table as we build our truly clean power infrastructure. Here is a list of websites we used to source some of our information for this segment

Energy Information Administration Documents

NJ's power portfolio

States with Reactors

The Climate Stewardship and Innovation Act of 2007.
A subsequent report commissioned by Senators Lieberman and John McCain estimates the economic impacts. This report projects Nuclear to increase from 15% of our energy supply up to 42% by 2030.
The good news is it also projects wind to have increased 250% in the same time. All this is with aggressive efficiency implementation.</itunes:summary>
